Mastering Egg Pickup [Oocyte Pickup; Ovum Pickup; OPU]

Our Assisted Reproductive Technologies [ART] center is committed to guiding aspiring Obstetrician-Gynaecologists and Fertility specialists in mastering Egg Pickup, a pivotal procedure in the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) process. We emphasize a balanced approach that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, enhancing hand-foot-eye coordination. Our program offers observership, hands-on step-by-step training, patient management, and leveling up for real-world scenarios to ensure excellence with a pleasant experience!

Qualification:

Master of Chirurgiae [M.Ch.] in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, Master of Surgery [MS] in Obstetrics & Gynaecology [OG; Obs & Gynae; OB/GYN], Diplomate National Board [DNB] in Obstetrics & Gynaecology [Ob-Gyn; O&G], Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology [OBG; G&O; Gyn/Ob], Fellow of National Board [FNB] in Reproductive Medicine, Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine [FRM], Fellowship in Infertility, Fellowship in ART and Non Residential Fellowship in Infertility.

Content:

• Learning module: In this module, you will be gaining a unique understanding of both anatomical and ultrasound (US) aspects.

• Practice module: Leveraging immersive and non-immersive to experience the environment by practicing simple to complex OPU cases, and performing the recommended number of retrievals for successful outcomes

Key Benefits / Takeaways:

1. Comprehensive patient preparation for the IVF cycle.

2. Understanding the anatomical and physiological principles that underlie OPU procedures

3. Proficient handling of devices, equipment, and setup.

4. Contemporaneous simulated visualization of transvaginal US-guided probe and follicular emptying and refilling on monitors, ensuring adherence to good ART practices.

5. In-depth discussions of case reports and complications with expert guidance, enhanced capability to manage real-life clinical scenarios.

Pedagogy:

Our program is designed to provide an immersive learning experience that begins with in-class lectures, where foundational concepts are thoroughly covered to build a strong knowledge base. Following this, participants engage in observations, allowing them to practice and refine their techniques in a controlled environment that mimics real-life scenarios. Interactive case report discussions are incorporated to encourage critical thinking and the application of learned concepts to real-world situations, fostering a deeper understanding of potential challenges and solutions. To further enhance learning, videos illustrating best practices in ART settings are integrated, offering visual and practical insights into the highest standards of care and procedure. This multifaceted approach ensures that participants are well-equipped with the skills and confidence in clinical practice.

Who should participate:

This program is for aspiring Gynaecologists eager to enhance their OPU skills. It is ideal for those working or specializing as fertility specialists, or subspecialty practitioners.

Participant Benefits:

1. Perform oocyte retrievals with confidence and precision.

2. Execute procedures more efficiently by improving US probe focus on the ovaries.

3. Experience simulated practice through our high-fidelity simulator for US-guided oocyte retrieval with 8-DOF (Eight Degrees of Freedom positional sensing) and 4-DOF haptics probe and needle, providing force feedback for the cervix, vaginal wall, ovary wall, and follicle piercing.

4. Effortlessly Impressive - Train on the world’s First European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology [ESHRE] - guidelines compliant AI and VR device, and recommendations for good practice in US-guided Oocyte retrieval.

5. Optimisation of the retrieval of oocytes through better understanding of the techniques.

6. Train in a controlled, safe environment, suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners.

7. Achieve proficiency through exposure to a spectrum of simple to complex OPU cases, performing the recommended number of procedures, and gaining experience with a range of real-life case scenarios.

8. Potential to reduce complications during real-life procedure management.

Exit Exam: A designated faculty member (fertility specialist) will review the oocyte retrieval practice report, which consists of various aspects such as practice sessions, performance metrics, and technical parameter comparison reports, and will confirm the issuance of the certificate.

Added to all the above advantages, participants might be offered exclusive discounts on other programs, mentoring, enabling lifelong association with the institution and augmenting professional growth.

The program will be subject to the eligibility criteria and institution admission process.
